1. Facilities Manager 

CEPT University invites applications for Facilities Manager

Facilities Management at CEPT University operates as an integral part of the institution by managing the operations and maintenance and outdoor spaces that enhance learning opportunities for our students.

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the ongoing operations and maintenance of the university campus. In addition to ongoing maintenance the Facilities Manager will oversee the smooth functioning of classrooms, auditoriums and all other spaces at the campus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Strong understanding of facilities operations with emphasis on the ability to manage the repair and maintenance of the critical elements needed to keep our existing facilities functioning efficiently.
  • Ability to leverage contractor network in order to get efficient services for the university premises.
  • Procurement and scheduling of professional services to include contract negotiations.
  • Responsible for inventory and tracking, warranty management and life cycle analysis.
  • Constant communication with various levels of management on repair and maintenance issues.
  • Alerting the management on repair scenarios and providing a realistic expectation on such matters.
  • Establish maintenance program and process including budgetary forecasting for such program
  • Serve as the primary means of communication between the locations, the contractors and staff

Educational and Experience Requirements
  • B.E/B. Tech (civil) with MBA as a preferred qualification
  • Minimum of five years in a facilities role
  • Proficient in MS office

Skill Requirements
  • Must be extremely flexible and able to prioritize in a fast paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Experienced in creating estimates, forecasting budgets and schedules
  • Must have excellent contract negotiation skills
  • Should have prior experience creating and implementing a maintenance program to include timelines
  • Prior experience dealing with vendors regarding repairs made under warranty
  • Must possess the ability to logically think through facility related issues.

News : TOEFL no longer accepted by UK visa authorities : 

Putting many UK Visa aspirants in a tumble, English language ability tests TOEFL seems to have been discarded by the UK visa issuing authorities in wake of a controversy, as per a website report.
As per the report, ETS, the agency responsible for conducting the English language ability tests has ended its partnership.

As per the UK Council for International Student Affairs official website the TOEIC and TOEFL, conducted by ETS, has been suspended by the Home Office due to potential concerns regarding fraud. The website also sites that the Home Office has suspended processing student immigration applications in the UK that include Educational Testing Service qualifications, while it investigates.

The students aspiring to get a UK Visa will now have to take a test with one of the five other providers of secure English language tests that are approved by the Home Office.

News: Saurashtra University Postponed B.com Exam after being leaked on WhatsApp :

Saurashtra University postponed the second semester examination of Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) after the question paper was leaked and circulated on WhatsApp before the examination began at the centers.

According to the news reports, The University officials took instant action and cancelled the exam after been informed about the leaking of the paper . The University will now conduct the exam on April 27, 2014.

As per Saurashtra University officials, they have launched a probe to investigate how and by whom the paper was leaked. The exam paper was on business administration and was circulated on the social media.

A senate member of Saurashtra University Bharatsinh Jadeja said, "It is a very serious matter and needs to be investigated accordingly. The paper was leaked at around 9 am, one-and-a-half hours before the examination was to begin across all the centers. It seems some insiders are involved in leaking." Jadeja also added that the university must register a criminal case in this regard.

According to officials. there are over 15,000 students who were to appear in this examination in various colleges in Rajkot, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Junagadh and Porbandar.

Saurashtra University vice-chancellor Dr Mahendra Padalia added, "This is a serious matter and we are going to lodge a first information report (FIR) with the police. We suspect that the paper was leaked in transit."

500 Students of Gujarat University gets Zero in One Paper (Master of Arts)

News: 500 Students of Gujarat University gets Zero in One Paper (Master of Arts) :

Around 500 postgraduate students of Master of Arts, Gujarati Literature got zero in one paper .

According to news, report, the students of Semester 1 and 3 got zero in one of the papers. The students reported the matter to the Head of the Department Kirtida Bhatt who took the matter to controller of examination, who informed the vice-chancellor MN Patel about the same.

Thereafter, Vice Chancellor has informed the Controller of examination to carry out random checking of the papers and had also directed that the university will not charge any fee from those 500 students for rechecking.

The Vice Chancellor also asked the controller of examination to seek help from professors and experts from other university if there are changes in the marks of the students whose papers were checked. Vice Chancellor has said that if there was an error on the part of the Gujarat University or the professor who checked the paper, then they will get to the bottom of the issue as such errors cannot be tolerated by the university.

The Controller of examination has called for the papers and is now getting it verified with the results to rule out any error in the entering the marks.
